Please join us as we explore approaches to support and engage individuals in Dual Recovery. Each date offers a unique training session and it is not required that you attend both dates. There will be keynotes on the topics below as well as individuals sharing their recovery stories.

Applying a Social Justice and Public Health Lens to the Impact of Mass Incarceration on People with Substance Use Disorders and Mental Health Challenges
Presented by Haner Hernandez, Ph.D., CPS, CADC-II, LADCI, and Michele Stewart-Copes, M.S., M.S.W.
This session will review the development of disparities in the US and their impacts on racialized and marginalized communities with a specific focus on mass incarceration and trauma.

Michele Stewart-Copes, M.S., M.S.W. is CEO of SEET Consultants, LLC, System for Education Equity & Transition, and a national trainer and consultant in system of care and cultural competency coaching. She holds the National Supervisor Coach Wraparound Certification, a Master of Science degree in Guidance & Counseling, and a Master’s degree in Social Work. As Community Coordinator with the Department of Public Health’s, Office of Minority Health, she formulated the behavioral health agenda for the Multicultural Health Advisory Commission
