This advanced-level training is designed to elevate Certified Peer Specialists (CPSs) into powerful leaders—both as professionals and as advocates—while staying true to the history, values, and integrity of the peer support movement.
Over the course of 60 hours, participants will gain a deep understanding of the unique role and responsibilities of a Peer Supervisor. This includes balancing accountability with compassion, supporting peers as both colleagues and movement leaders, and navigating complex organizational dynamics with authenticity and clarity.
Key Learning Areas:
- Building and Leading Peer Teams: Learn how to design, hire, and cultivate a peer support team from the ground up.
- Supervisory Practice: Engage in realistic and challenging scenarios to strengthen your ability to handle conflict, lateral violence, and difficult supervisory situations while maintaining trust and respect.
- Personal Leadership Development: Identify and refine your leadership style, develop mentorship practices, and learn how to inspire growth in others.
- Culture Change & Collaboration: Gain tools to influence organizational culture, improve collaboration with non-peers, and advocate for the meaningful integration of peer support in service systems.
- Movement Stewardship: Understand your role as an ambassador for the broader peer support movement, honoring its history and values while promoting its relevance and impact in today’s healthcare and social service environments.
- Organizational Readiness: Assess your organization’s capacity to support peer workers, and learn strategies to advocate for the conditions needed for peer support to thrive.
By the end of this training, participants will be equipped with advanced leadership tools to develop and support peer workers on their teams, guide organizations toward peer support readiness, and uphold the integrity of the peer movement while stepping into supervisory and leadership roles with confidence.
