Peer Support Meetings at Kiva Centers and Beyond
WHAT IS PEER SUPPORT
“Peer Support” is a relationship between people with similar experiences. It is a mutually valuable exchange of hope, encouragement, connection, understanding, information and/or support. “I’ve felt something like this too” is one of the most validating and useful things a person can say or hear.
In the psychiatric survivor movement, “Self-Help” now known as Peer Support relationships are among people who have experienced trauma and/or received mental health diagnoses.
The Kiva Centers: Central Mass Recovery Learning Community (RLC) is pleased to offer a a variety of peer support meetings where groups can gather in a space to share their experiences and stories relating to their life.
