This training is designed for clinicians to learn directly from peer support workers, bringing lived experience storytelling to the forefront as a paradigm shift in how we understand mental health, illness and recovery. Instead of viewing diagnosis as a fixed identity, participants will explore how social determinants of health, environment, history, and relationships shape well-being. By placing people in their broader context rather than focusing on symptoms, clinicians gain a deeper understanding of equity, culture, and community. The training also examines how inequities impact access to care and offers practical ways to apply a health equity perspective that strengthens dignity, trust, and effectiveness in clinical practice.
