Trauma-Informed Peer Support (TIPS)

A 3-hour introduction to trauma-informed basics and facilitating peer support groups. Participants learn to establish safety, respect autonomy, and practice cultural humility while creating spaces that promote collective healing and honor each person’s expertise in their own recovery.

Course description

3-hour course for CPSs and pre-CPSs

This training introduces the foundations of facilitating peer support groups through a trauma-informed lens. Participants will learn to uphold respect for individual autonomy while establishing guiding principles, group norms, and clear expectations. With a focus on building community rather than one-on-one support, the training also covers cultural humility, honoring diverse worldviews, and practical skills for time management and conversational practices that foster safety, connection, and going deep in trauma healing. Core to this training is the belief that every person is the expert of their own recovery journey and holds the capacity to lead and heal themselves.
