The majority of our staff have first-hand knowledge of receiving and delivering services.

Young Adult Peer Mentor

Zia Young Adult Access Center
Worcester, MA

Young Adult Peer Mentors are central to the Zia Access Center. Peer Mentors are individuals who have first-hand experience with various life struggles (i.e. emotional distress, trauma, substance use) and within different systems (i.e. mental health, juvenile justice, foster care, etc.) and who actively share this experience with the young adults they support. Peer Mentors also embody and emphasize our ideals around youth and young adult advocacy and social justice, with a focus on youth liberation and systems change. In general, Peer Mentor will support the Access Center’s daily virtual operations and, eventually, physical operations within the Kiva Centers and Open Sky Community Services upon reopening. Works with youth and young adults ages 16-22.

Peer Respite Advocate

Worcester, MA

The Peer Respite Advocate will support the daily operations of the Peer Run Respite. They offer peer support for each guest. The Peer Respite Advocate is available to instill hope, support wellness, and demonstrate that healing is a self-determined process. PRA model and utilize trauma-informed techniques and tools, help guests set goals, and engage in community and social events. The purpose of Peer Respite is to support individuals experiencing emotional distress and other life challenges while avoiding hospitalization or other, more invasive interventions.
