Kiva Centers stands in full support of peer-run respites, offering technical assistance to aid communities in crafting models that resonate with their unique requirements. Central to our position is the advocacy for legislation that empowers communities, especially those of color, to craft customized solutions. this encompasses various peer initiatives such as housing projects, jail diversion programs, as well as mobile support for rural and transportation-constrained communities. We endorse listening sessions and legislation that allocate funding to initiatives from the ground up, ensuring community voices are heard and respected in the policymaking process.

Black lives, liberties, communities matter
June 2, 2020
Our community Our community is our bedrock. The Kiva Centers stands in solidarity with all people impacted by the recent killing of George Floyd, and recognizes the specific harm caused to Black communities.
We believe that it is also necessary to acknowledge that the recent events add additional trauma to centuries of violence directed at people of color in our nation, and that calls for peace cannot be used to silence calls for justice, but rather the two must go together.
As we bear witness to our community’s grief, we also take action to address the needs of our community as events unfold. Black lives, liberties, and communities matter.

There’s no question that we are all trying to find our way in this new “normal.”  In times like these, it’s important that human rights are respected, regardless of individuals’ politicial viewpoints, socioeconomic status, race, religion, age, or gender identity.

We all have a part to play in this world. You matter. I matter. Everyone matters.

Trust that with kindness and mutual respect, we will all get through this together.
